STEEL FORCE

(TERROR ON THE RAILS)

If you haven't been to Dorney Park in the last few years, then make it a point to go. Dorney Park will unveil Steel Force, their breath taking 200 ft. tall new coaster this summer. The approval that was necessary for Dorney Park to build the coaster was delayed for a season. Well, Dorney Park got approval for the coaster in the winter of 1996 and immediately started the construction process. Steel Force, which towers over Thunderhawk and extends to Hercules's first drop begins with a lift hill that takes riders 200 ft. in the air. The drop is an amazing 205 ft. at 60 degrees that takes passengers into an 120 ft. long tunnel at 75 m.p.h. The coaster then hurls its riders up a 161 ft. tall hill and sends its train back to the ground while maintaining high speeds. Next, it races down a 100 ft. tall spiral by Hercules's first drop and sends riders up an 85 ft. tall hill. From here the coaster soars over four 0-G hills and dives back into the same tunnel that the first drop goes through. If the timing is correct, the trains should pass each other while in the tunnel. Lastly, the passengers fly around the final turn and hit the breaks. Steel Force is expected to open in mid-May along with the rest of Dorney Park. You won't want to miss this hypercoaster so plan a trip to Dorney Park this Season.

RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT: SUBMITTED BY Jeremy Vaughan

Ok first you sit in the extremely comfortable cars. there are two seat belts (retractable)and a lap bar like Hercules. The lift runs really slow which gives you plenty of time to curse at yourself for going on. As the front of the train is going down the hill you are still being pulled up the lift. as the weight evens out you are pulled so fast over the hill that you get complete o-g 's down the whole drop. you race through the tunnel and up the second hill. The same goes for this hill you are pulled over it and 0-g's are your reward. You race around the helix at high speeds, when you come out of the helix you go up to the brake run that uses no brakes, once again you are whipped over the hill and you get o-g the whole time. you enter the first 0-g hill and guess what you get, 0-g. as you reach the bottom of the hill you are sucked back to you seat. the same for the next hill but on this one you go through the tunnel. there are two more 0-g hill that do the same thing and then you come up to a bunny hill. this hill hurts you upper back and neck. you make a turn and the brakes hit. IT IS THE BEST COASTER BY FAR IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!
